Summer has come to an end, at least the actual ‘days off from school’ part of summer. So that means that everyone is getting back to business as usual.<\/p>\n

Do you work summer hours? I know many VAs who do, and it can be hard to get back into the routine when the fall hits.<\/p>\n

We are used to getting up late, maybe a reduced workload, perhaps shorter office hours. Leaping back in can be a shock to the system.<\/p>\n

So I have an idea for you.<\/p>\n

Why try to get ‘back’ into your old routine? Why not actually form some new ones?<\/p>\n

Growing in your business only comes from change, and the first one you can change is your daily routine.<\/p>\n

I know what you’re thinking … your routine works for you. And it probably does. But is your business growing?<\/p>\n

I made a simple change in the last couple of weeks and it has made a big difference in my productivity.<\/p>\n

I started doing my planning at a different time of day. I used to sit down early in the morning and figure out what I needed to do for the day. I have a couple of hours in the morning before I start client work, and that was when I would come to my desk and start to organize my work schedule.<\/p>\n

I have started to do this planning earlier in the week and it’s making a big difference.<\/p>\n

So I lay out my calendar and my task list and I start to build my week out in advance, so I know what’s coming.<\/p>\n

It’s just a small change, and one that doesn’t really take too much time, but it’s really helping me to plan my days better and I feel more relaxed in the mornings when I sit down to start my day.<\/p>\n

And I still have those couple of hours each morning before I start my client work – so I am using those to make stronger connections with my audience and potential clients. And that will be good for business down the road!<\/p>\n
