I came across a neat quote from Simon Sinek\u00a0this week in the form of a social media image.<\/p>\n

“It’s better to go slow in the right direction that to go fast in the\u00a0wrong direction.”
\n<\/em>
\nI really like this thought because it’s really true in usiness.<\/p>\n

I often talk to VAs who feel that they aren’t moving fast enough to get where they are going.<\/p>\n

But I always reassure them that as long as they are moving forward, even in tiny steps, that they are still headed in the right direction.<\/p>\n

Those of you who have worked with me will know this is true!<\/p>\n

As we build and grow our businesses, sometimes we don’t get everything done that we expected. But as long as you concentrate on moving forward towards your goal, it’s a success to celebrate.<\/p>\n

Here’s an example of one of my fails.\u00a0Earlier in the fall, I started a 100 connections challenge – the challenge was to connect with 100 people in 100 days<\/span><\/span>, to grow your business.<\/p>\n

Well I started off very well – it’s really so easy to connect with 1 person each day!<\/p>\n

But before long I had more people than I could manage in my pipeline, for follow up and for partnerships, and even just for phone calls and emails and webinars.<\/p>\n

I had to stop. It was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

So I felt bad for a while that I hadn’t finished my challenge.<\/p>\n

But when I thought about it, I realized that I was so much further ahead than I had been, and I was still going in the right direction, because here was this amazing list of people I had ready to connect with at anytime.<\/p>\n

Although to continue the challenge would have been moving too fast in the wrong direction, stopping it was helping me to move more slowly in the right direction.<\/p>\n

It’s about perspective, and realizing that you have to monitor and adjust your course all the time in your business.<\/p>\n

And what did my overwhelm help me to accomplish?<\/p>\n

I now have a system in place to deal with my connections and follow up. I now have a standard response for people who want to connect.<\/p>\n

I don’t overload my calendar with appointments just for the sake of connecting with people. Everything is strategic and fits into my bigger plan.<\/p>\n

I urge you to try it for yourself. Look at what your goals are.<\/p>\n

If you are overwhelmed by trying to do too much in a short period of time, slow down. Make sure you are still doing something small every day, or every couple of days, to move forward.<\/p>\n

You’ll feel better about it and you’ll know that Simon Sinek is absolutely right!<\/p>\n
