You probably\nhear it all the time. As a Virtual Assistant, you should be blogging.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many VAs\nstruggle with getting a blog started \u2013 or keeping it going.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

But writing\na blog is not the only way you can create content for marketing your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is\nreally one main skill you need to develop to get lots of content created for\nyour marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s called\nrepurposing. Repurposing means to reuse something you have already created in a\nslightly different way. I\u2019ll explain how to do that below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

First things\nfirst, usually the thing that stops you from creating content is not knowing\nwhat to write about. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

VAs who say\nthey hate to blog probably don\u2019t hate to write \u2013 they just don\u2019t know what to\nwrite about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What To Write<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To figure\nout what you need to write, you first need to know what your audience wants to\nread about, or learn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are a\nbookkeeper, your audience wants to know how to do their part better. So you can\nwrite about tax tips, organizing paperwork better, software to use, apps that\nare new,  actual methods to categorize or\npost expenses, and so on. You are not trying to teach them to do their own\nbookkeeping. You are trying to showcase your knowledge and expertise so that\nthey might want to hire you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All VAs can\nwrite about online tools to use to build or grow your business, or work\/life\nbalance, or organization and productivity, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You need to\nfigure out what it is that your audience wants to read about, that supports the\nservices that you offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose two\nor three categories of topics to start with and then you can grow from there.\nStart simple and develop good content creation habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repurpose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ah here we\nare!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repurposing\ncontent means to reuse it in other ways, so you don\u2019t have to create something\nnew every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example,\nif you write one blog post, you can turn that into a number of pieces of other\ncontent. Here are 10!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Put it in your newsletter <\/strong>and send it to your email list.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Post it to your blog.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Post it as an article on Linked In<\/strong> (do this at least a few days after it has already appeared on your blog, not on the same day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Turn it into a Facebook Live<\/strong> (you honestly just have to read it on air!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Upload the Facebook live video to your Youtube channel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Transcribe your video,<\/strong> or take notes from it as you talked (if you did not read it \u2013 you don\u2019t want to miss your ad libbed parts \u2013 those are often the best teaching parts!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Go through the blog post and transcript to pull out short social media postings<\/strong> for whichever platforms you are on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Pull out advice from your videos or blog post that can be used to create custom images<\/strong> (no more stealing other people\u2019s quotes!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Post your custom images to Instagram<\/strong> (or any of your social media platforms).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Look in the transcript for opportunities to expand<\/strong> on any areas \u2013 thus creating another blog post that you can link back to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you get the idea? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One article\ngives you at least 10 other ways to use one blog post to create more content.\nAnd everything is about things your audience wants to read about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or Don\u2019t Write<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When\ncreating content, it\u2019s important to choose a delivery method that you enjoy. If\nyou like to write, then blog. If you don\u2019t like to write, try doing video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook\nLives are very popular these days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\nprefer doing video, then start there and use the transcript to create a blog\npost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look at your\nblog posts or videos so far. Have you written something once, posted it, and\nthought that was enough? It\u2019s not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I challenge\nyou to take an existing blog post and repurpose it using the steps above.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One thing it\nwill do is show you how much of your efforts you are missing out on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other\nthing it will do is let you figure out your favourite way to create content \u2013\nso you can do more of what you like!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all have\nthe same amount of time to market our business. Wouldn\u2019t it make sense for you\nto make the most of your time to do yours?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
