Stop asking for advice in VA groups about every little thing for your VA business. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Is that a harsh piece of advice? I\u2019m sure it sounds harsh, and it\u2019s kind of meant that way, but for good reason!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual Assistants are full of questions. We are a naturally inquisitive type of personality. As a business owner, that can be a good thing. In fact, I regularly encourage you to ask questions wherever possible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But more and more I see VAs asking for advice about the SIMPLEST things. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I see VAs ask others if their rates are too high, because although they say they are confident with their rates, clients are telling them they charge too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see VAs ask others if they should change service offerings, because they are having trouble finding clients, and so they think the market is saturated with other VAs providing the same services as them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see VAs ask others how to handle a difficult client situation \u2013 often a really simple one, that just requires some clear communication to fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We begin to lose confidence in the decisions we have made in our business \u2013 whether it\u2019s around our services, our rates, the project management system we use, the places we network \u2013 and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you feel like that, you are not alone. But you are probably seeking advice in the wrong place.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I always say that the VA industry is extremely collaborative \u2013 and it is. But where you are seeking your advice can actually add to your lack of confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you post a question in a huge VA group with VAs from all over the world, you will get varied responses. Much of the advice you receive is actually terrible \u2013 and it\u2019s often presented poorly as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of it\u2019s good, I\u2019ll agree, but sifting through the answers usually just means we are looking for someone to support what we are feeling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting answers from a large community can give you validation when you are feeling unsure about something in your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But more often I see it causing damage to your mindset, your ability to make your own decisions, and definitely to your confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are constantly asking others to solve your problems for you, how can you learn to make smart decisions on your own?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We have to make so many decisions on a daily basis: how to prioritize work, how to handle a conversation with a client, how to manage expenses, how to find a new client, how to balance our work and home. So many decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best thing you can do for your business is find a trusted squad of VA colleagues that you can lean on when you need to \u2013 but that will also help you to gain the confidence you need to settle into the role of CEO of your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mastermind group is a terrific way to do this. It\u2019s a trusted group of like-minded people that you meet with regularly to get support from (and give support to!). When you meet with the same group regularly, you will get to know each other and each other\u2019s businesses \u2013 and the advice you will get will reflect that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will grow as a business owner because you can have proper discussions about all situations in your business \u2013 not just sifting through 50 random comments looking for the most popular response, or the one that validates you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can\u2019t expect to be a great VA without establishing your confidence as a business owner. The two go hand in hand. And the good news is you never have to do it all alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding a small group of colleagues to share with is one of the best things I did in my VA business. If you invest in a mastermind group, you will put even more effort into showing up for yourself and for your colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
