class=\"wp-block-heading\">Episode Notes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we\u2019re talking about something that doesn\u2019t get nearly enough attention in the VA world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting hired is one thing.<br>Getting kept is another.<br>Because here\u2019s the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a lot of virtual assistants who can land a client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But far fewer who keep that client long term, grow the relationship, and become the VA the client never wants to lose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s what we want. High quality clients that we can work with for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is different about the VAs that the clients never want to lose?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re not necessarily more talented.<br>They don&#8217;t know more tools.or stuff.<br>They don&#8217;t work more hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The difference is how they show up once the contract is signed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So today I want to walk you through the difference between a VA who gets hired and a VA who gets kept long-term, and more importantly, how you can start positioning yourself as the second one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The VA Who Gets Hired<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s start here: the VA who gets hired usually does a few things really well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have a decent application or discovery call presence.<br>They can clearly explain what they do.<br>They are enthusiastic, eager, and ready to help.<br>They often say yes to a lot in the beginning.<br>And none of that is wrong. In fact, it\u2019s often how you get your foot in the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But where many VAs get stuck is that they stay in this \u201ctrying to impress\u201d mode.<br>They wait for instructions.<br>They only do exactly what\u2019s asked.<br>They hesitate to speak up.<br>They worry about rocking the boat.<br>They want to be liked more than they want to be respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This VA is often operating from a mindset of, \u201cI hope they keep me.\u201d<br>And clients can feel that, even if they can\u2019t articulate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The VA Who Gets Kept Long-Term<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let\u2019s talk about the VA who gets kept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This VA understands something important.<br>They were hired for a reason.<br>So instead of trying to prove themselves every single day, they focus on being valuable, reliable, and proactive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They think ahead.<br>They communicate clearly and consistently.<br>They flag issues before they become problems.<br>They make suggestions, not demands.<br>They understand the client\u2019s business, not just their task list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This VA doesn\u2019t wait to be told what to do.<br>They don\u2019t disappear between assignments.<br>They don\u2019t assume silence means everything is fine.<br>They act like a partner, not an order taker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And here\u2019s the mindset difference.<br>The VA who gets kept thinks, \u201cHow can I make this client\u2019s life easier?\u201d<br>Not, \u201cAm I doing enough to justify my role?\u201d<br>That shift alone changes everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Confidence Is the Real Separator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where confidence comes in.<br>Confidence is not being loud.<br>It\u2019s not pretending to know everything.<br>It\u2019s not overstepping or taking over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confidence is being willing to communicate.<br>Confidence is asking clarifying questions.<br>Confidence is saying, \u201cHere\u2019s what I\u2019m seeing, and here\u2019s what I\u2019d recommend.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A confident VA trusts that they were hired because they bring value, not because they\u2019re replaceable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And clients keep confident VAs because they feel supported, not babysat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here Are a Few Practical Examples<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A VA who gets hired might wait until a deadline is missed to say something.<br>A VA who gets kept flags the risk early and offers a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A VA who gets hired completes tasks exactly as written.<br>A VA who gets kept notices inefficiencies and suggests improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A VA who gets hired worries about asking questions.<br>A VA who gets kept knows that good questions prevent mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the pattern?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about doing more work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s about thinking differently about your role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If You Want to Be the VA Who Gets Kept<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re listening to this and thinking, \u201cOkay, I want to be that VA,\u201d start here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop waiting to feel confident before you act confidently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start treating your role as a professional service, not a favor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communicate more than you think you need to.<br>Remember that clarity builds trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And most importantly, stop assuming your client is constantly evaluating whether to replace you.<br>Show up like you belong there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting hired is exciting.<br>Getting kept is powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the VAs who build sustainable, higher income businesses are not the ones constantly chasing new clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re the ones who become invaluable to the clients they already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do You Need Help?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re listening to this and thinking, \u201cOkay, I want long-term, high-quality clients\u2026 but I\u2019m still trying to get my first one,\u201d I want you to know that this starts with your foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long-term clients don\u2019t happen by accident.
