How Much Marketing is Too Much?

Have you ever looked at your marketing calendar and thought maybe it was a little heavy on the promotions?

It happens, especially when we are launching new products or services, or when we are involved in a joint venture with others.

I think it’s important to sit back and analyze the impact of marketing to our list or in our social networks.

Promotion is a good thing. It’s important that people who need your services are able to see what you are offering on a regular basis.

Some small business owners shy away from doing marketing until they think they need it … which is often too late.

To be absent and present with your promotional efforts causes two problems:

1. You stand out like sore thumb when you do market things – because it is out of the ordinary for you and your audience.

2. You lose subscribers because people feel accosted by your sales techniques if they aren’t used to seeing them from you.

So what is the solution?

Market all the time.

Some people may think that’s too much marketing – but the idea is to put out your promotions in various degrees. Ramp up when necessary, but never go away entirely.

In various degrees, make sure that you are putting yourself out there all the time. Obviously you are going to be more specific when you are doing a product or service launch, but be sure that you are consistent on a regular basis, and that people know how they can work with you.

Putting your marketing on the back burner until you think you need it will surely backfire.

I’d love to hear your strategy for your regular and ramped-up marketing. Share your comments on my blog!
