What Is Your Biggest Fear?

I was talking with a colleague recently about success – or lack of success.

It was a pretty general conversation but we were talking about VAs and mindset to start with and it morphed into this conversation about what everyone really wants. What we want.

What do you want?

What are you afraid of?

Our fear can often cripple us as business owners. We can be afraid to make decisions because we don’t know what the outcome might be.

Have you ever had these feelings? If you have, you are perfectly normal!!

Fear of the unknown is one big reason I recommend having an accountability partner or coach. It helps you to push past the hesitation – however small or large – so you can really step into the decisions you make.

What are you afraid of?

Fear of failure – this is huge. When you work on your own, a lot of the decisions you make happen in your head. I bet some days you don’t even say anything out loud! So not wanting to fail can take over our decision making process. Who wants to try something that might not work – or that might make us look bad to others?

Fear of success – this is another! Have you seen that quote ‘What if I fail? Oh but darling, what if you fly?’  or something like that. What if your decision is successful. Then what? Do you have the resources to keep the success going? Do you have the knowledge? The support? This is a definite fear.

Fear of being ‘found out’ – this one can go either way. Maybe you think you will be exposed as a fraud – say if you are offering a new service and you have someone offer you a big contract – can you do it? Can you really do it? This fear is a challenge because you sort of need a cheerleader in your corner to push you through it!

Fear of going broke – spending money is probably the most challenging decision you’ll have to make in your business. You can decide what you earn, but the money that goes out is more under your control – so if you don’t spend it wisely, it hurts so much more than if you never earned it to begin with – right?

All of these fears (and so many more) take their toll on us every day. What are you most afraid of?

This is not to make you think negatively – what I want you to do here is identify what your biggest fear is – and then I want you to beat it!

If you have a fear of failure, then map out your goal properly so you can track your results and adjust your plan so that you maintain your course and reach your goal.

If you have a fear of success, make sure you have a growth plan in place before you decide to initiate that new level.

If you have a fear of being found out, work on your mindset so you know your value and you know your strengths. It goes very far in helping you through a sudden burst of exposure.

If you have a fear of going broke, detail your expenses. Determine where you should spend. And if you DO spend, make sure you USE the knowledge or system or whatever it is to its fullest advantage. (Don’t commit to spending money on something like coaching or training and then not do the work, please!)

You can do it – and you can push those fears away, no matter what they are!
