One of the things I get asked in almost all social situations is ‘How’s business?’
My family and friends know that I run my own business so it always seems to come up. I don’t know whether they are really curious as to what is going on with my work, or if it’s just a knee-jerk question, but it is very common.
My colleagues, on the other hand, often seem to ask the same thing – and I KNOW they are really wondering how things are going! 🙂 Having VA buddies is fabulous, because they really do GET what my business is about. And that’s when the conversation flies!
So I ask you – how’s business? What do you have on the go? What are you loving? What would love to change?
At this time of year we should reflect on the past 11 months and think about whether we are where we planned to be.
In some cases, I am where I wanted to be. In others, not quite. In still others, not even close.
I’m sure your business is probably the same.
We can all lose sight of our goals with the busy-ness of the day to day activity.
We can give up on marketing efforts when they don’t seem to be working.
We can accept the status quo for revenue and just get through the days instead of trying to grow our business.
It’s all perfectly normal as a small business owner.
But as we near the end of the year, it is definitely time to reflect on what we want the coming year to be like.
Reflect on the things that kept you standing still, or kept you from growing. How can we change those things for 2016?
What do you really want?
Remember when you started your business and you were SURE it was going to be the greatest thing that ever happened to you. At the end (or beginning) of each year, we need to harness those feelings again – and be positive – get excited about the possibilities.
It’s not hard to do – you did it when you started your business. And if you’ve been in business for any length of time, you’ve probably done it many times over since then.
I challenge you to write down the things that you want to accomplish in 2016. It should be a short, focused list. And then start to put your plan in place to achieve those goals. I’m starting my list now!
