How To Write a Better Response to an RFP for a Virtual Assistant

How do you find your clients? If your number one answer is not ‘networking’, then you are probably a VA who seeks online opportunities in groups and on job boards – and responding to RFPs that are posted in various places online. First let me say that there is nothing wrong with that (some VAs like to say there is!). I got my very first official VA client by answering an RFP (and we still work together!). I remember it being so exciting when she replied and said yes! I didn’t know what I was doing. I saw her job listing and I put together what I thought was a good response and I sent it off to her. 8 Marketing Tips to Help You Get More VA Clients

The Bourn Creative Blog is a great source of information for me in my business. I enjoy their articles and posts, and this week I came across one that I thought would be great to share with you. 8 Marketing Tips to Help You Get More Clients. I have many of my own tips, but I really liked this article and figured instead of reinventing the wheel, I would paraphrase their tips here with my comments. You know, sort of a like a ‘I could not have said it better myself’, type of thing. Here we go: 1. Talk to 3 prospects every day – The more people you reach out to regularly, the more your business will grow. If you… Read More »8 Marketing Tips to Help You Get More VA Clients

3 Ways to Become the Go-To VA Expert For Your Clients

I was doing a bit of surfing on the ‘net and Facebook the other day and I realized that what I was doing I needed to share with you! I was doing research for my clients – not in a billable, time-tracking way – but I was noticing things in my Internet travels that might be interesting to them. One of the things that is really important for you to do in business is to master your craft. Just like your clients, it’s essential that you know your business inside and out. Part of that mastery is learning about your clients and their businesses too. It’s not particularly necessary to work with a target industry or niche (although that helps!), but… Read More »3 Ways to Become the Go-To VA Expert For Your Clients

[VIDEO] How to Get Fantastic VA Clients

How are you this morning? Did you jump up and get excited when you looked at your task list for the day? If you did, you must have fantastic clients! (congratulations!) If you did not, you need fantastic clients! A lot of VAs get into that drudgery of saying YES … to clients they know they should not really work with … to tasks they don’t really want to do … to rates they don’t really want to work for. It’s hard to turn down money, isn’t it? I sure know that. I’ve made deals over the years that I have regretted deeply. And it can be hard to stay on track to find fantastic clients. That’s why today I’m… Read More »[VIDEO] How to Get Fantastic VA Clients

Stop Confusing Your Potential VA Clients

When you attend a networking event, are you nervous beforehand? You’re not alone. Do you get anxious thinking of what people might ask you? Do you get freaked out because you think you will not say the right thing? Happens to the best of us! But … do you rehearse what you will say to them in return? Probably not! The most important part of the networking action is what you say. You can meet 100 people or 5, but if you don’t say the right thing to all of them, your actions are useless, and your time (and theirs!) is wasted. The words that come out of your mouth will make or break any networking connection that you make. I… Read More »Stop Confusing Your Potential VA Clients

7 Tips for Better Face to Face Networking Results

Here is a cool stat for you from a great infographic from Virgin Entrepreneur: 95% say face to face meetings are essential for long-term business relationships. Now I know we are all virtual professionals, and I’ve done my fair share of hiding behind my computer screen. ‘I don’t do in-person meetings.’ ‘I don’t do Skype or Facetime.’ ‘Thanks for the invitation to coffee, but I only do phone meetings.’ ‘You can only reach me via email. It’s how I work.’ I’ve said these things to my clients and potential clients. I still say them! BUT in terms of networking, there are many cases where meeting face to face (either in a small business setting or a large event) can really fast-track your business… Read More »7 Tips for Better Face to Face Networking Results

Get Your First, or Next, VA Client

Good clients are NOT hard to find. Whether you have lots of clients, or are still looking for that elusive first one, it is important that you find GOOD clients. The backbone of any business is clients. Without clients you have no revenue … you have no business. And frankly, life is too short to work with clients that you don’t like or who stress you out. Look at your client list right now. Do you love each person you work with? What do you like about them? Is it the work you do for them? Their personality? The rate they pay you? Be honest with yourself and really determine what makes a GREAT client for you. It may not be… Read More »Get Your First, or Next, VA Client

Clarify Your Message, Get More VA Clients

Last fall I sponsored a speaker training event. There were about 80 business owners in the room as the audience, and there were 10 speakers on the stage throughout the day. The speakers each presented a talk and then were coached by the event host to improve their talk. The audience would then vote for the speakers to win various awards. Great premise for an event, so I decided it would be good to sponsor. And it was not terribly expensive to book a table there, and I knew I would meet lots of local people. I hadn’t sponsored an event before so I didn’t have a lot of marketing materials or banners or anything like that. I prepared my… Read More »Clarify Your Message, Get More VA Clients
