10 Reasons Why Many VAs Will Not Make It

What a sad title, huh? So negative, you’re probably thinking. Well it’s true. I pride myself in sending out positive messages for the most part, but when I saw this video on YouTube a few days ago, it spoke so loudly to me that I knew I just had to share it with you. It’s a six year old video from the Acting Career Start Up channel on YouTube but the list he provides is almost identical to the list I would prepare for Virtual Assistants. Check it out and ask yourself honestly if you need to put more focus on any of these 10 things (or more than one?) to make sure that your VA business is the success… Read More »10 Reasons Why Many VAs Will Not Make It

Want Different Results? Change Your Actions

Look at your business. Is it running the way you want it to? Are you making the money you want? Are you doing the things you love to do every day? Are you balancing your work and family properly? Are you happy? If not, it’s time to do an assessment … and make some changes. Assessing your business regularly – and the things you do in your business – is an essential piece of being a great business owner. Making sure that the things you do every day are working to build your business is essential, but making changes to those things when they aren’t working is one of the most important skills you can learn to master. Your VA Mentor: Celebrate Your Successes, No Matter How Small

Celebrate Your Successes, No Matter How Small

Recently I guess I was multi-tasking without really intending too. I had several big projects on the go – some work, and some personal. I ended up finishing several of them all at once, or within a few days of each other, and the sense of relief and accomplishment I felt was really great. I shared it on my social media profiles and got really nice feedback from people who knew of one or more of my projects. This inspired me to go back to my Success Journal. Do you keep one? I have a beautiful journal that a client gave me as thanks for helping her with an event, and I use it as my Success Journal. A few… Read More »Celebrate Your Successes, No Matter How Small

What Do You Need to Succeed in Your Virtual Assistant Business?

Almost every new VA I know becomes an information pack rat pretty quickly. As we begin to forage around looking for information about this industry that we don’t know much about, we start to collect. We collect websites, blogs, articles, free classes, and anything else we can get our hands on. So we can learn. It’s a great idea – but where do we stop – to apply what we have learned? One of the things I always tell my students and mentoring clients is to STOP collecting and USE what you have. The key to success is not to keep collecting at a break-neck speed. The key is to learn valuable information and then implement it into your business.… Read More »What Do You Need to Succeed in Your Virtual Assistant Business?

How Do You Act Around Your VA Clients?

When we talk about supporting our clients, there are two ways we can be: reactive and proactive. Being reactive means that you wait for situations to happen, and then you base your next ‘actions’ on what just took place. You act, after the fact. Being proactive means that you look ahead in the road, to see what might come up, and you plan to ‘act’ on what you see coming in the distance, before it happens, instead of afterwards. We often act proactively in our own businesses, with our planning and strategy, but many virtual professionals I talk to don’t realize that it’s beneficial to be proactive with our clients as well. How do we do this? Here are a… Read More »How Do You Act Around Your VA Clients?

Three Questions To Solve Any Problem

“To solve any problem, here are three questions to ask yourself: First, what could I do? Second, what could I read? And third, who could I ask?” – Jim Rohn I love this quotation. It tells me that to solve any problem, first you need to think through it, then you need to learn about it and then you should seek advice. I wholeheartedly believe in this process. I’d like to expand on it here. Take any issue you are currently having in your business – big or small – and do this exercise. First, what could you do to fix it? Think about the problem itself, and as many possible solutions as you can think of. Make a list… Read More »Three Questions To Solve Any Problem

3 Steps to Better Customer Service

We recently took a trip to Boston to see our first Red Sox game. What a great time. From the drive there to the drive back, and everything in between, we were surprised at how kind and gracious everyone was, everywhere we went. Yes, we were tourists in a tourist town, but it was more than that. We really found that the people we came into contact with went above and beyond the standards of what we are accustomed to for kindness in customer service. In the service and support industry, customer service is key to making sure that your clients feel important and special … and it’s not that hard to do. Here are three steps you can take… Read More »3 Steps to Better Customer Service
